Well, the peaches are done and the kitchen is clean. We finished Saturday night with 144 quarts on the shelf! Here are a few pictures of the work in progress.
To give you an idea as to how big some of the peaches were, the above peach is about the size of a softball!
I was wondering if you would post more on the peaches. All those jars lined up look lovely.
It's amazing all the memories your peach pictures conjure up. My mother canned fruits and veggies all through my childhood and I remember thinking..."Why waste time canning all that other stuff? Why not just can peaches, peaches and more peaches?"...and oh, when the last jar was gone...it was a character lesson indeed, especially when sister got the last peach. Enjoy your peaches.
Hello Miss Blair, That's a lot of peaches, and they sure do look delicious! We usually get peaches from Michigan and freeze them, but I don't think we'll be doing that this year. We actually ran out of our last batch and bought a bag of frozen peaches - they did not taste like peaches. We've never bought as many as you canned, but still enough to last a year. I'm glad you were able to make up for the couple years you missed. :)
It would be great to be able to meet you at the conference in IN!
